From prevention to celebration, Glentworth House is reimagining care home life.

This is the story of care delivered by Glentworth House Nursing Home in Hove, UK. The digital story was made as part of the Vivaldi Social Care Project, led by the Outstanding Society, Care England and University College London.

It features the story of Dani , a resident with difficulties speaking and the novel way the home celebrated her 40th birthday, and the story of Sheila, who was given 6 weeks to live but who lived a further 16 months.

Vivaldi is a wide-ranging project that seeks to reduce the incidence of common infections among care home residents, and to change cultural perceptions of care homes in the UK.

“Eating and drinking have always brought people together. Why should that be any different in a care home?…Sometimes feeding someone takes an hour, but that hour is often when that essential trust is built.”
